Company N is involved in the manufacture and sale of commercial kitchen equipment and store fixtures. Recently, the company has begun developing a new model of "refrigerated showcase" for the expanding ready-meal market.
The new model aimed to keep food fresher than previous models, but as soon as they started to consider the specifications, they ran into some issues with the fan that was to be installed. Mr. I, the manager of the company's design and development department, looks back on the situation as follows:
"Optimal temperature and humidity control is essential to keeping food fresh. To ensure that the temperature and humidity inside the refrigerated display case is uniform, the air needs to be circulated. Because the inside of the cabinet is a harsh environment with low temperatures and high humidity, the fans need to be highly waterproof," says I.
Furthermore, we were also considering air curtains for the newly developed refrigerated showcase.
"Preventing fogging is essential for refrigerated display cases so that food can look good. We also considered installing air curtains to prevent changes in temperature and humidity inside the case caused by outside air entering when the case is opened and closed.
However, since refrigerated showcases are installed inside stores, it is desirable to keep noise levels to a minimum, and energy conservation was also a major issue with fans that run constantly," said Mr. I.
Mr. I looked at fans from several manufacturers, but was unable to find one that met the specifications he required...
Continuing his information gathering, Mr. I stopped by SANYO DENKI CO., LTD. booth at an industrial equipment exhibition to ask about the best fan for a refrigerated showcase he was developing.

Shortly after, Company N officially decided to adopt SANYO DENKI CO., LTD. 's Splash Proof Fan and incorporated it into the refrigerated showcase it was developing.
"We had previously used AC Cooling Fan in our models, but by switching to DC Cooling Fan this time, we were able to reduce power consumption by more than 70% compared to AC Cooling Fan in previous models while still achieving high levels of waterproofing and quietness. A few months later, N Company's long-awaited new "refrigerated showcase" model was released and received high praise from the market.
